November is Diabetes Awareness Month
Nearly one-third of the 21 million children and adults in the United States who have diabetes are unaware they have Diabetes. One way to test for Diabetes is to have a Fasting Blood Sugar Test.

The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.

Diabetes Prevention & Control Program
Seeking persons with diabetes to participate:

  • There is NO cost associated with participation
  • Enrollment means a willingness to answer questions about your diabetes twice a year
  • The first interview is done face-to-face at Whiteside County Health Department, 1300 W. Second St., Rock Falls, or in your home
  • Information is provided to participants concerning various programs, such as Dining with Diabetes, support groups, newsletters, updates on diabetes research, etc.
  • There is NO financial assistance for medications & supplies
